Roles & Permissions
Holy uses roles to determine what each user can see and do within your church.
Default Roles
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to all features and settings |
| Staff | Access to people, groups, events, and attendance |
| Leader | Access to assigned groups and their members |
| Member | Self-service access (profile, giving, groups) |
Viewing Permissions
Go to Settings > Roles & Permissions to see the permission matrix for each role. Permissions are organized by module — People, Groups, Giving, Events, Attendance, Settings, Users, and Reports.
Custom Roles
Admins can create custom roles:
- Go to Settings > Roles & Permissions
- Click Create Role
- Name the role and select the permissions you want to grant
- Save
Custom roles can be assigned to users just like default roles.
Assigning Roles
Roles are assigned per-user under Settings > Users > [User] > Role.
A user can have only one role per church. Multi-campus users can have different roles per campus if campus-scoping is enabled.
